Biography
Peter Chengelis was elected to his first four-year City Council term starting January 1, 2026. His current term expires December 31, 2029.
Work History
Chengelis is a Risk Modeler at Progressive Insurance, where he specializes in assessing the impact of hurricanes and other catastrophic events. Before joining Progressive, he worked as a pension actuary, helping companies manage long-term financial risk.
Education
Chengelis graduated from The Ohio State University where he majored in economics and earned his master's in business administration from John Carroll University. He is also a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Personal Life
Chengelis and his family have lived in Shaker Heights since 2019. His spouse is a teacher at Shaker Heights Middle School. Their two children attend Fernway Elementary School.
