Launcharts Media

Jumar Newell, owner of Launcharts MediaWhen Launcharts Media moved into its Shaker Heights space in early 2022, it brought far more than its camera equipment and marketing abilities. Founder Jumar Newell arrived with a passion for “interactive artistry”—a concept rooted in his lifelong love of storytelling, visual art, and community-building. From day one, Launcharts has blended design chops with strategic insight—offering social media management, brand storytelling, and video production under one roof.

Though the team provides everything from social media campaigns to brand strategy and video production, Jumar sees Launcharts as more than a marketing agency and hopes to build a collaborative space for diverse thinkers and creators, ultimately a place where “great ideas meet great strategy.”

When asked about his inspiration for the name “Launcharts” Jumar explains that all he knew was that he shouldn’t use his name to name the business.

“I knew from the start I didn’t want to name the business after me,” Jumar explains. “I wanted to entice others to join and feel like it could be theirs too. That’s why it had to be something bigger than my name—something that speaks to creativity and collaboration.”

Jumar first launched his freelance operation out of his man-cave at home, balancing contract work under the Launcharts name while maintaining a full-time job at a real estate brokerage that focused on education. In 2019, as his client base grew, he finally decided to quit and commit to Launcharts completely. A mere six months later, the pandemic struck—an unexpected twist that ultimately highlighted the importance of digital marketing and helped drive the studio’s evolution.

Growing up in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood and attending Cleveland School of the Arts since he was 11, Jumar developed early on a great sense for what he calls “creative marketing”. He paired formal studies in marketing, communications, and creative writing with hands-on experience in graphic design, videography, and public relations. Skills that he honed over the years working with diverse private businesses and other institutions.

Yet it was Shaker Heights—a place he describes as “a bright spot in Greater Cleveland”—that drew him in for his own studio.

“Shaker is my end game. It’s beautiful, it’s diverse, and there’s a sense of community that has always inspired me. Even before I had a business here, I was an ambassador for Shaker Heights, always telling people how it’s a bright spot in Greater Cleveland. One day I thought, ‘Why not set up my space where I’ve always wanted to be?’ And here we are.”

Since moving Launcharts to Shaker Heights, Jumar and his team have hosted mixers, art nights, and community events. They view their space as both a workspace and an “interactive artistry” collective—one where local creatives can converge. While many agencies specialize in just one service, Jumar emphasizes the value of in-house collaboration.

“I’m a first-generation social media manager,” he laughs, referring to the early days of Facebook’s rise. “But I also come from a background in communications, film, and writing. So, at Launcharts we can guide the entire process, from developing brand messaging, to designing visuals, shooting the video, and even scripting it. It’s a true one-stop shop.”

This holistic approach helped Launcharts thrive, even during challenging stretches like the early pandemic period. Today, the firm continues to grow and diversify, serving clients who need everything from a feature-length documentary to a short social media clip.

Although Launcharts prides itself on human creativity, the team also embraces AI as a tool in marketing and content creation. Jumar views AI as a valuable resource rather than a threat—something that can assist in drafting ideas, generating data insights, and automating repetitive tasks. He believes emerging technology complements, rather than competes with, the artistry that Launcharts is all about.

“I’m not afraid of AI. Artificial intelligence needs people like us, humans, who bring fresh imagination to the table,” he explains. “AI can help refine or speed up our workflow, but it can’t replace genuine creativity. Ultimately, we harness AI to amplify the storytelling, not to replace the human touch.”

Another very important piece of Launcharts’ mission is mentoring. Jumar partners with local colleges and encourages young professionals to explore careers in creative industries as he brings on interns every year, providing them with hands-on experience and a supportive environment.

“We want to build a pipeline of talent,” Jumar explains. “If you show real passion, we’ll work with you to develop those skills. Then you can be part of the next wave—right here in Cleveland or wherever your creativity takes you.”

As a proud Cleveland native, Jumar also remains committed to highlighting the city’s strengths. He points to Cleveland’s world-class medical centers, educational institutions, and rich history as reasons to stay, grow, and invest locally—even as he looks to expand Launcharts’ footprint in other thriving hubs like Atlanta.

What’s next for Launcharts?

In addition to new video subscription plans and expanded service packages, Jumar envisions deeper ties to the community. He hopes to continue using the Shaker Heights studio to showcase local artists, host small business workshops, and create original creative content that puts Cleveland on the map.

“Cleveland has so much potential,” he says. “Shaker Heights, in particular, is an example of what can happen when you invest in a place and watch it flourish. I want Launcharts to be part of that story—for decades to come.”

Whether you’re a local entrepreneur needing brand support or a student dreaming of a creative career, Launcharts aims to be the place where great ideas can truly take flight, right here in Shaker Heights!
