Natural Gas Aggregation Program

The City has its own Natural Gas Aggregation Program for residents and small businesses of the city. This program was created after Shaker Heights voters passed a November 2003 ballot measure that authorized the City to offer an opt-out natural gas aggregation program.

Gas is supplied by Interstate Gas Supply (IGS).

Price/Rate: New Lower Rate for April 2026 to March 2028 Announced

The rate for natural gas supplied to participants in the program is currently $4.98 per MCF for the period October 1, 2025 through March 31, 2026.

The rate for the period April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2028 will be $4.64 per MCF, a little over a 6% decrease from the current rate.

Why a two-year term?

The City’s Natural Gas Aggregation Program has typically offered a fixed rate for a one or two-year period. At this time, the prices on the natural gas market were most favorable to purchase the gas for a two-year period.

These rates do not include County sales tax (8%), as well as Enbridge's (formerly Dominion) transportation costs and monthly customer charge.

Residents can compare their total rate with Enbridge's and other rates through the "Apples to Apples" calculation at the PUCO's website.

Joining or Leaving the Program

Residents and businesses may enter or leave the City's Aggregation Program without having to pay a switching or cancellation fee to IGS. (Note: Other providers may charge a fee to switch to the City's Aggregation Program).

If you have any questions or want to join or leave the aggregation program, please call IGS Energy at 877-353-0162, weekdays, from 8 am to 8 pm.

Under the City's Aggregation Program, Enbridge continues to maintain the pipeline system that delivers natural gas to your home or business. You will continue to receive a single bill from Enbridge East Ohio Gas Company (formerly Dominion) for your natural gas service. You will still contact Enbridge regarding loss of gas service, odor of gas, or for any other concerns or issues having to do with your local service. Budget billing and automatic billing options will continue to be available through Enbridge.Under the City's Aggregation Program, Enbridge continues to maintain the pipeline system that delivers natural gas to your home or business.
