Snow Parking Ban
When snow exceeds two inches, there is no parking on residential streets. This allows our crews to safely and efficiently clear roadways. Cars in violation of the snow parking ban may be ticketed and towed.
Snow Plowing
The City plows streets in the following order: major roadways (e.g. Chagrin Blvd.), secondary roadways (e.g. Lomond Blvd.) and roads around schools, then neighborhood side streets. The City rotates where it starts plowing side streets so all neighborhoods will have the opportunity to be plowed out first (and last).
Sidewalks
- Under six inches of snow: Residents are responsible for clearing their sidewalks
- Over six inches of snow: The City will plow the sidewalks after it finishes clearing the roadways. Sidewalks are plowed in the following order: main streets, secondary streets and then residential side streets. The City plows residential sidewalks on a rotating basis so neighborhoods take turns getting their sidewalks plowed first (and last). With 200 miles of sidewalk, this process can take time.
- The schools are responsible for snow removal on their own sidewalks. With any snowfall, the Public Works snow crews work to keep sidewalk arteries adjacent to school sidewalks clear, as well.
