The Shaker Heights Police Department invites you to join yourneighbors for a fun, engaging, and family-friendly opportunity to learn from the experts about safety in your home and the community. Climb aboard a SWAT vehicle, police cruiser, or fire engine. Say helloto our furry K9 officers. Enjoy music, food, and entertainment andmaybe grab a selfie with the first responders who keep us safe!

National Night Out is celebrated the first Tuesday of August in cities across the United States as a way to build community among neighbors and saftery services like police and fire. Below find some of the activities and other fun planned for Shaker Heights' National Night Out. See you there!
- Free food, games and other entertainment
- Meet the first responders who keep us safe - our police officers (including all three K9 officers), firefighters/paramedics, and staff from First CALL and Cuyahoga Valley Dispatch Center
- Check out SHPD’s new Community Resource Center in the Van Aken District
- Free bike helmets (while supplies last)
- Learn about safety at home and in the community, including bike, fire and water safety courtesy of our Police, Fire and Recreation departments
- Climb aboard police and fire vehicles, like a police cruisers, fire engine=, ambulance, and bearcat
- Connect with volunteer safety organizations like the Citizens Police Academy and the Community Emergency Response Team
- Watch a demonstrations of our police drones
- Try drunk driving Mario Kart and see why you should never drink and drive
- Knock down the fire activity
- Pick up a child safety ID kit
