Join us on Wednesday, November 13 from 7-9 pm at Shaker Heights High School’s small auditorium for a town-hall-style community discussion on the Listening Project, the months-long effort to learn how residents feel about policing in Shaker. Our professional consultant from the firm Strategy Matters will present her final report on the project, take audience questions, and encourage discussion. The report was presented to City Council on October 15, 2024.
The Listening Project was a community-wide initiative to listen to residents and encourage residents to speak out and have community conversations about any concerns and suggestions regarding police policies and practices, and particularly concerning any real or perceived bias in policing in the city. Through a combination of in-person and virtual public meetings, the Listening Project also included discussions about specific police policy and practice reform proposals, the City’s Mental Health Response Program, and a public records repository.
